Dear Rovers North,
Our 24th Birthday Party at Silver Lake, Ontario, was blessed with super weather, great attendance and enough mud to wear with pride.
We are writing on behalf of everyone who attended this year’s event to thank you for your generous donations and continued support. Having a successful fund raising auction is key to continuing our club’s annual traditional premier event. Dear Rovers North,
I have recently started to purchase all my parts needs from Rovers North and I wanted to let you know how pleased I am at the quality (second to none) and the timeliness of their arrival. They arrive well packed for protection and your pricing can’t be beat. Looking forward to getting my parts I have just ordered. All the very best to the Rovers North staff!

Dear Mark,
I want to state my sincere appreciation for the outstanding support and customer relation skills of Steve Haskell. I am now and have been a loyal fan of the Land Rover since my childhood days growing up in the Caribbean watching the old Series trucks working the dirt roads. Today, I am the proud owner of a 1999 Discovery Series II and a 1997 Defender 90 NAS Station Wagon, currently under restoration. As such, Steve has been a valuable resource, guide and mentor through his professional advice, patience and superior people skills. For the past several years, I have been a loyal customer of Rovers North and I can honestly share with you that it has been a pleasure doing business with your staff, and especially Steve. His genuine display of care, great salesmanship, professionalism and vast knowledge of everything Land Rover has been a blessing.

[The idea that I would be so petty as to use this space to vent my jealousy about your compliments to Steve, well, I never! –ed.]
Dear Rovers North,
You may have seen this many years ago – as I did – but then I was not so aware of the Rover mystique. Recently I had a chance to see the movie “The Gods Must Be Crazy” again for the first time in 30 years. Anyway, if you’ve seen it you’ll remember that a Series Land Rover plays a huge part, truly demonstrating a Rover and what it can do – with a bit of humor attached. If you haven’t see it, I highly recommend watching it. Keep on Rovering!

[The 1980 film “The Gods Must Be Crazy” tweaked apartheid South Africa, consumer materialism, and Land Rovers in equal amounts. The movie was such a hit with Land Rover enthusiasts that the Rover Owners Association of Virginia (ROAV) actually rented a drive-in theater for one event and showed the movie to hundreds of assorted Land Rovers –ed.]
Dear Rovers North,
The local television station’s 11:00 pm news showed gridlock and horrible road conditions due to a snowstorm. They said one of the only drivers able to get through the snow was so-and-so and then showed him in his Defender 90 (I believe he was in Hartford, CT). Yeah! That’s the vehicle for snow all right! I was in my son’s Discovery today and it was a monster in the snow.

Dear Rovers North,
Playboy will have a model posing in all of her glory on a ’94 Defender 90. The magazine should appear in the next few months (February – May). You’ll know because a bunch of guys will write in saying that they were the first to spot the Playmate of the Month lying on a Landie. The Defender in the photo is mine. A Defender made a not-socommon appearance – a true worker at heart. The Defender is always ready for the tough work that somebody has to do!

[You let a naked woman lay on the bonnet of your Defender? Wow – what a guy! Thanks for letting me know about this; I might have missed the photo while perusing the articles –ed.]
Dear Rovers North,
I enjoy all the articles in the Rovers North News magazine. Keep up the good work!

Dear Rovers North,
I enjoy your magazine very much. I’ve ordered parts from Rovers North several times and have been nothing but pleased with the service and products.

Dear Mr. Letorney,
I work for Clay Lacy Aviation as a Pilot/Captain for Lear 60, 55, 34 and 25 jets. I am hoping that one of my trips will bring me into Vermont so I can stop by and say “Hello.” Thanks for the great magazine and catalogues. I always look forward to reading them from cover to cover.
