Dear Rovers North,
I own a ’92 Range Rover County with over 320,000 Rovers North miles on the clock. My wife is getting a complex about her entries to the Sightings contest. She won one without her address so it was not shipped. She has sent in several that were not “winners.” In the recent issue there is a name in the winner’s column that is very similar to hers, in the same town. Is she the winner of a mug? While we enjoy tormenting her that she cannot seem to win a mug, I think it would make life easier for all of us if she won one. Can you check on this please?

Dear Rovers North,
I bought my first Land Rover in about 1965. It was a 109” pickup truck that had been used in the building of the Oroville Dam in northern California. It was worn, but in good condition. I had a long cab installed, painted it red with a white top and used it for my family car for about eight years, rebuilding almost every major component along the way. The engine never died, but I was especially hard on axles.
In 1973, I bought my present Land Rover 109” station wagon, a 6-cylinder NADA, in nearly new condition. I have been driving it ever since, though now it needs paint and some other cosmetic work.
The only regret I have is that when I sold the first Rover, I also gave the new owner my old shop manual because I knew a new one was available and I needed all the information on my new engine and other improvements. Of course that was necessary, but the difference was the old manual had all the specs and repair information for the fire equipment that Rover once had as optional items. I loved that old manual!

[We loved the photo of your 109” fire tender, especially the fire bell mounted on the front bumper! Keep up the daily driving in your 109” SW. –ed]
Dear Rovers North,
I work at the U.S. Embassy in Tirana, Albania, and saw this “Strange Rover” the other day in Tirana, and thought you might enjoy it. Thanks – always appreciate the good service when I need stuff for my
’98 Discovery I.

Dear Rovers North,
This past July my family and I spent a couple of weeks in the Mojave with our Rovers. We drove from Rhode Island to San Diego via the Badlands in South Dakota, to Moab and the Mojave. We happily used some parts from you guys and a whole lot of advice. We also have some good pics of our Landies if you’d like them for The Rovers North News. We now live in Japan and eagerly await the next issue as it’s our only connection to our beloved Rovers, now in storage.

[Sam, we’d love to share the story and photos of your travels in your Land Rovers. You’ll see a few RHD Rovers in Japan, so send us photos, too. –ed]
Hi Rovers North,
I just wanted to send you a note to say thank you very much for the coveted mug(s). They are really cool additions to my collection – a very nice touch! I hope you are enjoying your summer! We’re beginning to enjoy ours here as the weather becomes more like summer and we can take our classic ’67 109” out for a drive on Duxbury Beach. Now that’s a lot of fun! You wouldn’t believe the smiles, waves, salutes and comments like “Cool truck, man!” that we get as we drive by and park with the other SUV’s, set up our beach chairs, and enjoy some sun and sea.

Dear Rovers North,
Just wanted to say thanks for all the sponsorship and support Rovers North exhibits at the National Rally. Vendors like you (and others) help make the Rally the great event it is. We had a wonderful time; the Solihull Society bunch knows how to throw a good party. I thought we had a long trip but there was no comparison to yours! Anyway, I love your products (I have several on my Disco), and I love the black hats as well.

[No matter how long the drive, it’s worth it when there’s a group of Land Rover enthusiasts waiting at the other end! Thanks for the kind words, and keep up the good work with your Discovery. –ed]
Dear Rovers North,
Hey, Jeff Aronson. I ran across the website of the folks [East Coast Rover] who “restored” your QE I (wow, what a mess!) Well… why didn’t they redo that one rusty, tin trim strip on the driver’s door? I have sensory issues and that bugs me every time I see a photo of your great Rover. Great stuff – keep it coming!

[The Spring 2005 issue of the Rovers North News carried the article on the seven day “Roverhaul” of the QE I by East Coast Rover and Rovers North, for which I remain grateful. Galvanizing trim strips cannot be accomplished as part of a seven day challenge; happily, they left the gentle work dents alone, too. Mine is a working Rover so cosmetics are secondary. Most importantly, I know it will last for several more decades –ed.]
Dear Rovers North,
Thanks for taking the time to put an awesome Land Rover magazine into circulation! I look forward to every issue.
