As always it’s helpful for rookies – and useful as a reminder for the grizzled veterans as well – to review the rules for Sightings.

Sightings Rules:
Rule #1: All Sightings receive appreciative recogntion but not necessarily a mug. We reward only those Sightings that capture the unique qualities of Land Rovers and their owners, and display them in a distinctive way.

Rule #2: Sightings should find Land Rovers where you might not expect them. This rules out Land Rover sales advertisements, off road magazines, British television programmes, British publications, films with British themes, and shows about African safaris. (…)

Parents of Land Rover, Tata Motors, will appreciate the unique appearance of Land Rover models. They clearly resonate with the American and international public. The qualities that we love as Land Rover enthusiasts clearly captivate those who rouse popular passions. Movie directors, advertising art directors, and consumers agree if there’s a Land Rover present, you should pay attention. That assures us as a lot of Sightings – in fact, lots and lots of Sightings.

Once again there are superb entries that warrant emptying more of the crockery cupboards at Rovers North. As always, it’s helpful for rookies to review the rules for Sightings - and useful as a reminder for the grizzled Sighting veterans as well.

snow, pulling out stuck cars with his Series II-A 88”, splitting wood and banking foundations. That’s so he can lug the bundles of mail into the house to work on Sightings. They do make for great reading on a cold winter’s day. Let’s kick into the new year with a reminder of the rules:
Rule # 1 - All Sightings receive recognition and our appreciation, but not necessarily a mug. We reward only those Sightings that capture the unique qualities of Land Rovers and their owners, and display them in a distinctive way.
Rule #2 - If your Sighting does not really surprise you, it won’t surprise us, either, and you won’t get a mug. We’re delighted, but not surprised, that Land Rovers appear in British television programmes, British publications, films with British themes, and shows about African safaris. You shouldn’t be surprised, either, and should consider looking for other ways to get a coffee mug. (…)

Here in New England our colorful leaves now decorate our fields and roads instead of our trees. It won’t be long before snow obliterates our fields and roads. Then we’ll need lots of paper to get those woodstoves going. Fortunately, Sighters from the US and Canada have sent a bountiful supply of entries that warrant emptying out the crockery cupboards at Rovers North. As always it’s helpful for rookies - and useful as a reminder for the grizzled veterans as well - to review the rules for Sightings,

Ah, those lazy hazy crazy days of summer, when millions of Americans enjoy vacation while the Sightings editor labors over bags of mail. The large number of Sightings indicates the impact of this small but significant manufacturer of motor cars. The very presence of Land Rovers makes the most mundane product, movie or television program seem extraordinary.
This issue Sightings has engaged the assistance of an international staff. Unlike Presidents Bush and Putin, who seem not to be able to get along right now, I received spectacular assistance from three Russians friends working here in Maine this summer: Natalia Morozova and Sergey Kholopov, both from Magnitogorsk and Ekaterina Lesnik, from Vladivostok The very best of the Sightings earn a coveted Rovers North coffee mug. To assure fairness we use the following rules. It never hurts for novice and expert Sighters to review them:.
Rule # 1 - All Sightings receive recognition and our appreciation, but not necessarily a mug. (…)
