This alternator fits carbureted Defender V8s with factory-installed air conditioning(both the A/C evaporator and heater core located in the engine bay)up to 1998. In these vehicles the interior vents are located above the lower dash panel, eliminating the fresh air vent flaps.

To accommodate the fitment of the A/C compressor, the alternator was relocated in these vehicles to the left-hand side of the engine(as viewed from the driver's seat).

This alternator is also used on ROW Range Rover Classics and Discover 1 models with the factory installed 200 Tdi power plant
