NOTE: Here is a guide to help you identify your Defender gearbox by engine type the gear lever shift pattern -
LT85 Gearbox - 5 speed fitted to V8 only 1985 -1992 with reverse in forward left position ahead of 1st gear
LT77S Gearbox - 5 speed V8 fitted to all models from 1992-1994 with reverse forward left position ahead of 1st gear
R380 Gearbox - 5 speed fitted to all models from 1995-2006 with reverse in the rearward right position behind 5th gear
